61KGMarcus Blaze over Jax Forrest 2-1

Very tense series between these two, ultimately Marcus's defense was almost impenetrable. I've never seen Jax get shut down so much. I really think if Jax committed to something, he would've scored, but the threat of the down block go behind from Blaze really made Jax think twice before attacking.

Zain Retherford's timing was on point all night, they were pretty even on their feet, but Zain hit perfectly timed double legs in both matches, won the scrambles, and held him off late both times to make the world team after a taking year off.

74KGJames Green over David Carr 2-1

Overall just really disappointed in David Carr's lack of offensive diversity this year. I came in really worried about our medal chances here, and while I'm still not confident in our medal chances, I'll give it to Green, he looked quick and sharp today, his re-attacks were were on point and he stuffed everything Carr had to throw at him. I am worried about his conditioning though. Gotta be happy for him though, with everything he's been through, seeing him make another world team is really cool.

79KGLevi Haines over Chance Marsteller 2-0

Chance came out with nice attacks in both matches, but the Levi's hand fight and pace were too much for him. Chance looked to have hurt his ribs during match one, which seemed to have played a factor, but Chance looked off the whole night. It's looking like he needs to be at 86KG, as he just did not have the conditioning to compete with Levi at 79KG.

86KGKyle Dake over Zahid Valencia 2-1

A great, chippy series from both guys with some clear animosity between the two. Zahid took match one, but Dake completely flipped the momentum in match two. He set a clear message in match three, "Don't poke the bear." Zahid Valencia's bravado in his interview yesterday did not age well, as the 2025 world champ will not return to worlds this year.

92KGTrent Hidlay over Mike Maachiavelo 2-0

Not much to say here, Hidlay won two competitive matches. Mike is a savvy vet who would be the representative for a lot of countries, and his familiarity with Trent kept this series close, but Trent Hidlay is the reigning world champ for a reason, as he wins two straight.

97KGKyle Snyder over Stephen Buchanan 2-1

Buchanan showed his worth here, but Snyder's hand fight and snaps were too much. Snyder looks quicker and more refined with age, and Buchanan had no answer to his foot stomp high high single. Buchanan looked broken toward the end. Buchanan will be a threat for a very long time, but Snyder is not ready to give up his spot yet.

125KGWyatt Hendrickson over Mason Parris 2-0

Very competitive series, David Taylor went 3/3 with his challenges, which really changed the series. Mason did a good job getting to the legs early in both matches, but Wyatt came out on top in the scrambles. Toward the end, Parris could only muster up straight on shots, and Wyatt will head to his second straight world team
